Melissa Szkola
My name is Melissa Szkola and I was introduced to CrossFit in 2009. Since then I have been playing with the lifestyle and programming style of CrossFit. Being a trainer, I love to learn about different techniques and approaches to training. CrossFit offers a great way for any individual to attain success, constantly varied functional movements at high intensity can be scaled to fit any client and their abilities. This is what I love about CrossFit!
My background is in the field of Kinesiology, I completed my Masters in 2009 and it has played a big role in the way I train my clients. Technique is very important when coupled with high intensity workouts and I pride myself in teaching proper mechanics while challenging my athletes with increased speed and intensity.
I am also an international ice hockey referee so my fitness is very important to me. I reached my goal of officiating at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. To achieve this, I need to work hard on and off the ice. CrossFit has helped me get to this point and will continue to help me achieve my goals in the future. I hope to be able to do the same for others!
