Sneaky Sugars

Sugar can be a tough part of the Whole 30, please read labels carefully and make yourself aware of the different names for sugar, companies are sneaky. No maple syrup, honey, agave nectar, cocnut sugar, splenda, equal, nutrasweet, xylitol, stevia, ect. The whole 30 also does not allow Vanilla extract. Please read the handout so you can make the best choices possible.

Keep up the good work! We are almost a week in. Keep posting recipes and food prep ideas. Every little bit helps and we are all working on this together!

The sugars seem to be the worst for me right now. I was even a bit nervous this morning while packing my lunch. I wanted mustard to go with my turkey roll up (with turkey/spinach/cucumbers) and I wanted something with more flavor than yellow mustard. But I happened across some horshradish mustard in the fridge that has no sugar in it. It was great and it was already in the fridge.

Here is a good little article/recipe on making your own mayo! Great way to avoid those “sneaky sugars”

cut into chiffonade, sea salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Toss tomatoes lightly with olive oil on baking sheet. Spread them into one layer and sprinkle generously with kosher salt and pepper. Roast for 15 to 20 min until soft
transfer to serving platter and sprinkle with basil leaves and sea salt. Serve hot or room temp
